Tired of oil leaks in my 03 Duramax 1 ton

I have had the dealer repair three times an oil leak in the lower oil pan. Now they tell me I have an oil leak in the upper oil pan and will need to disconnect the transmission to get to it to the tune of around $1200. 60 K miles. When does this nonsense end?

RE: "Homeless in Seattle"... 5th wheel in shop, AGAIN!

Your first problem is trying to pull a Hitch Hiker Champagne with a 1 ton pick up. These units need a MDT truck. Now that doesn't relate to your problem just an issue many have with pulling big units.
And you say... There were doubts that it would hold together because it lacked what I felt was a necessary brace. NuWa has produced how many of these units without this brace without any problems? Yes you still have a problem so you could care less about others with the same unit who do not have a problem. I understand that. You have tried and are still not a happy camper.
I would think by this time you would have been talking to Mike the CEO and owner of NuWa. And posting your problems on the owners forum where Mike does respond to posts. http://nuwaowners.org/
I hope you get satisfaction going forward as NuWa has a reputation of very much standing behind their units.
I would call up Mike at NuWa and in a calm as possible voice state your case and see what he sez. And if they come up with a plan to help, please come back and tell us what they propose to solve the problem.
NuWa owners want others to also be Happy NuWa owners.

RE: How much fulltimer's insurance?

I as a fulltimer, now have National Interstate Ins. for my 5er. Since we are getting a new 5er I went to the Progressive web site as they now do my truck, looking for 5er ins. and found it looks like they only do MH Ins. not trailers.
If this is not correct please let me know...

And just why would you want to wait? Life is short, go for every minute you can get. What you retired so you could stay home and watch the snow pile up?

RE: It's true about Teton...

One of the reasons on Tetons problems is people can't get loans to buy one. If you are going fulltime and are looking at a $100K + 5er do you need to get a loan?

Folding Slimline HD Dish

How to travel with a big DirecTV Slimline HD Dish used on a tripod?
I have searched but have not found the link (post) I saw on how how to put a hinge in the LNB arm of this dish so it can be folded and stored for RVing.
Any help on this?

RE: Gas Panic!

Now how fun is it going to be to bypass all this in a few years with a plug in electric vehicle. I'm sure they'll figure a way to get us but right now we are at 6 cents per kilowatt hour. An all night charge will cost less than a buck. :) Hopefully the chevy volt will be towable four wheels down. :) I'm thinkin a few million plug in hybrids or straight electrics will reduce the demand a bit for fuel enough to bring down the price a bit...I hope.
And the RV Park will be sure to add on extra charge for you to charge your Volt.

RE: Quartzite

For things to do in Quartzsite check out Quartzsite Gem and Mineral Club
They are the largest gem and mineral club in the US, and offer a wide range of activities aimed at all skill levels. There are classes and instruction offered in general lapidary, silversmithing, wire wrapping, lost wax casting, faceting, opal cutting, stone carving, and knapping. They also go on a weekly rock collecting field trip, and there are weekly 4wd trips to old mines and other remote sites in the area.
All this talk about wind... We found constant wind in the RGV in TX.
In Q as fronts come through yes it can be windy for a day and then calm and be nice for many more days.
Where ever you go have fun out there.
We have been posting in our personal blog below (the last few years) all about Q and what we found during the winter season.

Gez - sounds like if you want a full timing rig your choice is going to be a Carriage, Peterson or Jayco's Entegra the way the flies are dropping!

RE: If you need a Cheap Genny

Just how LOUD is it? Does it bother you when it is running?
Sure it was cost effective BUT would you use it in a campground with other campers within hearing of you?
That question is not designed to be a put down on your new gen. I had a small Coleman gen. and it worked great but it also was loud. I used it when camping when not near other people.
Enjoy your gen. just don't cause others to have to put up with the higher noise level if you can help it.

RE: Honda wireless remote

I went to their site and the videos didn't work. But I like the idea that easy install compared to others I have looked at on the web. And it sez you don't have to leave the gen switch turned ON. Now how much does it cost for a Honda 3000 unit? They don't give a price on their web page.

RE: Highest winds a Fiver can take?

With our 5er slides in and the wind hitting us from the front we have been in 70 mph winds and it didn't affect it. Get the slides in as they act like sails. At our summer spot we have hurricane anchors in the ground with chains wrapped around our axles. And that is in Iowa. If it blows away at least the axles will still be here and the upper frame gone to parts unknown.
Now another storm is heading to the gulf... Pray for them AGAIN! Three years to the date and another storm. We in Iowa this year can understand the pain put upon them.

RE: retiring soon and need a winter destination

Looking for heaven, and hope you find it. Now to get real, try Quartzsite, AZ, Sure it's busy for 10 days in January but after that it reverts to that small town feel.

RE: What does everyone do during normal days?

So many solutions to I'm retired and what do I do now.
Many think this is a "flip off topic" as they are busy and don't understand that for many this is a real issue. For some work was their life and they thought RVing would be the end all to their new life and it did not happen, as they now have more time on their hands and are trying to figure what they should do to find a new life to be happy about. It is a big problem for many and some are still trying to work it out. Do you still dream about work you retired from? If not, great but many are as I might suggest are still trying to find out how to move on and get a new life.

RE: That GEICO RV insurance commercial

GEICO is selling RV insurance...
If you only need vacation type RV Ins. OK but do they offer fulltimers insurance... That is the question. There is a huge difference between the two and many of us have been happy with National Interstate Ins. that offers fulltimers Ins. on our 5th wheel. I have Prgressive for the truck. National Interstate
Full-Timer's Coverages - Personal liability coverage plus coverage for your golf cart, jewelry, valuable property, storage shed and more.
Total Loss Replacement - If the RV is a total loss in the first five model years, we will replace your RV with a brand new comparable model. If you own, or are thinking of buying a new RV, you should consider this coverage to help protect your valuable investment.
We have on order a new 5er and will check out insurance but we have been happy with this comoany. Your choices may vary and if what you find is different from ours be happy and enjoy your RV.

RE: Quartzite Arizona in winter?

We have been going to Quartzsite for a few years now.
We boondock close to town in the BLM at LaPosa North. About 1/2 mile south of town. We could go to a RV park in town but prefer the BLM as we have more room without having someone right next to us. Since we have solar and a generator why not. And for $180 a season why pay the RV park rent. (BlM has water and dump staion)
We have been blogging about what we have like and dislike about Quartzsite the last few years. See our sig for the link.
